Grandma’s are Crazy

We were in the car. We were about 15 minutes away from our hotel. It was the last weekend of summer and little did we know it was going to be a VERY memorable. My Grandma, Abby, my cousin Aubrey, my sister Avery, my mom, and I were in Austin. The next day we would be headed to Schlitterbahn!

When we got to the hotel we went in and changed our outfits and we headed over to Gruene, Tx, my favorite place on Earth. When we finally got there we were starving! We followed our senses and we went to a restaurant called Cantina Del Rio. Abby and I shared an enormous plate of yummylicious nachos. When we left we went to a really cool place called Gruene Hall because someone my mom really liked was singing there. We didn’t stay for very long because my cousin Aubrey was getting a little restless. After we left there we headed to Gruene General Store. Now, if you have never been to Gruene General Store you are CRAZY! It is like the most ridiculous store EVER! We went in and got HUMONGOUS ice creams! Then my mom said we could get anything we wanted in there so I got a really cute t-shirt. Once everyone was finished we went back to the hotel. When we went to bed I promise everyone of us was dreaming of going to Schlitterbahn the next day. I don’t believe though that anyone of our predictions was correct.

When we woke up it was to the beautiful sound of our neighbors next to us fighting at about 6:30 in the morning. To most people that would be the sign of a bad day, but we thought nothing could make this day bad. Boy, were we wrong. We got our swimsuits and cover-ups on and headed down to the lobby to get our breakfast. Most people may not like hotel breakfast, but I do! I mean what is not awesome about free pancakes and fruit and juice and my personal favorite cinnamon rolls? Anyways, we ate breakfast and then hopped in the car. It happened to be a very busy shopping day, so there was loads of traffic, but finally we made it. At Schlitterbahn my family has found a kinda hidden parking lot, but this specific time we forgot where it was. Finally after about 15 minutes of looking, we found it! We parked and lugged our coolers up to where you buy your tickets. We eventually got through and we went and found a spot to leave our stuff.

Once we finished setting up went and found tubes. If you’ve been to Schlitterbahn you know how hard it is to find tubes. I mean there has to be like a million different shapes and sizes! Some have lumps, some aren’t very round, some have nets in the bottom. It is hard to find the perfect one! Finally we all did. We then headed over to Congo River! We got on after about 15 minutes of waiting! It was so much fun! We rode a few more rides and before we knew it, it was time to start thinking about lunch! We had brought some food, so we headed over to where we had set up. I had a sandwich and a watermelon for lunch! It was scrumdiddlyumptious!

When we finished we went over to the buses! At Schlitterbahn there are 3 different parks. We headed over to my personal favorite ,Boogie Bahn. When we got there we rode several rides such as Deluge, The Falls, and the Torrent River. My favorite is The Falls. Well, here is where it got crazy. I believe that this ride is what spawned the craziness. So we get onto this ride. The Falls is more like a unlazy river so there is a few entrances. The one we decided to get on happened to be jammed packed! My cousin Aubrey headed over to who she thought was my Grandma. Where she was she got sucked onto the ride. It was crazy! So my Grandma goes over and she decides that she is going to go after Aubrey… without a tube! So, my Mom goes after her with a tube and so that leaves Abby, my sister Avery and I. My sister went after my mom and Abby and I are just sitting back there laughing our heads off! So then I guess instinct hits us that maybe we should try and go and catch them! Finally we all find each other. Grandma in a tube and Aubrey with the person who really did happen to be Grandma. We escaped from that ride and decided to leave. That had been so crazy it ran us all plum out! So when we were done we decided that we wanted to go ahead and go back to Gruene and eat at The Grist Mill.

We were finally there. When we got there, there was a table of crazy guys flirting with a table of pretty girls sitting on the other side of us. These dudes were total nerds! There in a club that the called the Bear Watcher’s Club. Not Bear Trappers Club, Bear WATCHERS! Despite the craziness around us we ordered our delicious food! Abby and I shared a huge plate of ribs! The were scrumptious! Soon after we got our food we left and headed back to our hotel, after that long day.

As I was drifting off to sleep I reminisced the past hours. I definitely learned a big lesson. Grandma’s and random people at the Grist Mill are crazy. I had such a great time with my friend and family! I hope we can do it again soon!
