Never Quit

My papa was a very cool old man. He fought in WWII and he fought cancer for at least 2 years!!! I am fixing to tell you a story he has told me about his being in the war.

This is a story of when he was in Pearl Harbor. When the Japanese came and bombed Pearl Harbor he was in boat preparing to go out later that day.  He was way down at the bottom of the ship working on something when bam! it hit his ship.  Everyone went up to the top of the boat and Papa said that the captain was being really rude and left the boat first. Finally my Papa was able to get out off the boat and onto another rescue boat with a few other people.

When my Papa got diagnosed with cancer my Great-Aunt and Uncle had been over at his house and he had been slurring his words really bad and so they decided it would probably be better if they went ahead and took him to the hospital just in case something was wrong.  When the took him to the hospital they gave him a CAT scan and learned that he had lung and brain cancer.  The lung cancer was the size of golf balls and the brain cancer was spreading quickly and they only gave him a few more weeks maybe a month to live.
The things he said to me are still permanently edged into my brain. He always told us to never quit what we love.  Many things I will never quit because of him.  I will never forget the text from my mom saying he’s gone.  I will never quit basketball or Camp Deer Run because those are a few things he loved.

Imagination

Do you see that tree?

The two eyes looking at me?

The rest of the body swallowed in darkness,

Everything,

But the whites of its eyes.

What could it be?

An animal?

A person spying in me?

Oh wait,

That’s just Savannah!

Whats up with me,

And my imagination.

Fad or Friend

I thought she was my friend,
She said I could trust her.
We had a few bends,
but I didn’t think we would break.

With memories we had,
I thought she would stay,
but to her I was just a fad,
and those all end up going away.

I was never bad,
I thought she was a good friend,
She left me sad,
But I will try to forgive her.

I thought she was my friend,
She said I could trust her,
We had a few bends,
But I didn’t think we would break.

Practice Makes Perfect

We had just gotten to Dallas and just like anytime you are in Dallas we were stuck in traffic! I could already tell that this was going to be the best birthday ever! Delani and I were in the car singing strange versions of “Call Me Maybe”, it was a car ride of chaos!! Finally we got to our hotel and unpacked, then we hopped right back into the car and headed to our first destination.
We arrived at the Magic Time Machine and saw all the crazy people in costumes! I was astonished!! The mythical character  who took us to our table was Cinderella! It was crazy seeing her in real life after seeing her so many times in the movies! She took us to a table that was a merry-go-round,our seats were horses and our table was shaped like the center control room! Then our real waiter came! His name was Peter Pan. I was thrilled! He asked us if there was a special occasion to us being there. Then I responded in almost a shout,” It’s my birthday!”
All the characters soon came to my table and sang “Happy Birthday” to me! Then Peter pan brought us our delicious platter of… CHICKEN NUGGETS!!!  After that we took a trip to our next stop.
We got in the car to head to the reason that we even came her.. the Swan Lake Ballet !  To watch every beautiful, graceful dancer hite every leap and pike turn! I was thrilled!!  “this is the craziest thing i have ever seen!” Delani and Cari said in sync. “This is so exciting!” my Nene told us.  We were astonished at the beautiful building as we pulled into the large drive. I told my mom “This is the craziest thing i have ever done!” She definitely believed me! We got our tickets and headed to our seats. I was amazed at the beautiful at the beautiful gold columns holding the building up. All I could really think about was how much that building had to cost!! It definitely wasn’t called the Majestic theater for nothing! Finally after what seemed like an eternity the lights dimmed.  Ever pair of lips went silent. The focus was just on the dancers on the stage.  You could till Practice Makes perfect!!  It was beautiful!!  Every ear heard the Majestic music, that worked as a lullaby to some people!  I was in awe!! I was sad when it came time to go. We soon left for the hotel.
As I laid in my bed after that long day I reminisced the past hours.  Magic Time machine was so much fun. the ballet was so beautiful!  “that was such a fun trip!” i thought as I slowly drifted to sleep.

Survival: Deer

IF you were in the wilderness you could easily find and kill a deer and they can feed you with their meet.  You could also follow them to get to water.  Here is our glog.
